Last updated January 15, 2024
Provides IP geolocation lookup via a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server using the IP2Location.io API.
The IP2Location.io MCP Server is an integration for consuming IP geolocation data as a tool in environments supporting the Model Context Protocol. It allows users (e.g. chatbots like Claude Desktop) to query IPv4 or IPv6 addresses and retrieve detailed geolocation, network, and proxy/security information.
Key features
- Returns comprehensive geolocation info: country, region, city, ZIP code, latitude & longitude, time zone
- Network-level details: ASN, ISP, domain, network speed, etc
- Proxy / Security detection: identifies proxy type and provider
- Supports both IPv4 and IPv6
- Simple setup / integration with Claude Desktop via MCP, using "uv" as the MCP server tool
- Free usage without API key (limited: ~1,000 queries/day), or larger limits (50,000/month) with API key
- Asynchronous implementation using httpx for non-blocking requests
