ToolGrid’s Character Counter counts characters, words, sentences, and paragraphs as you type. It is a free browser tool for checking a length limit before you publish.
Paste or type into the page and the counts update immediately. You get characters with spaces, characters without spaces, words, sentences, paragraphs, and an estimated reading time based on about 200 words per minute. The count stays in the browser, and the tool does not require an account. Alex Casali publishes it on ToolGrid.
Use it when a social post, SEO title, meta description, SMS, form answer, or short bio has a length limit. The page lists common limits, including 280 characters for a standard X post and about 160 characters for one SMS segment, and it notes that platforms can count emoji and links differently.
